Up and over (canopy): Main type of domestic door in the UK. Includes the budget cost end of the market, can be in steel, wood or UPVC. Good security, most having multipoint locking. Can be fitted to a wood or steel frame. Can be powered, but requires a bowarm converter, (except for Cardale).
Up and over (retractor): Same as above but with the door sliding back into the garage space is more suitable when the door opens onto a public place or your drive way slopes down to the garage door opening. Can be powered.

Uninsulated roller doors: produced in steel and normally fitted behind any brick piers the roller offers very good security as there are no side purchase points. Inside the garage vehicle can be parked within inches of the door. Requires at least 380 mm (18") of headroom. Can be powered.
Insulated Roller doors: all as above but are also produced in aluminium, They also provide very good insulation from transfer of heat and noise. Requires less headroom ( 280 mm). Only available powered.
Sectional doors : (both insulated and Uninsulated). Produced in steel and normally fitted behind the brickwork on a steel frame and offer excellent security. Vehicles can be parked within inches of the door as it rises vertically. Normally sealed all around with rubber seals. Requires about 150 mm (6") of headroom
